Books, hmmm i guess...: Twilight

With the movie just months away, ha, some fans may be in agony waiting though,

i thought a review of the book would be in order... so here we go...

it starts out with Bella moving to rainy Seattle from Sunny Phoenix, where i happen to be now :D

and she just wants to spend some time getting to know her dad, who is the sheriff in the small town of Forks, and yes, her parents are divorced, naturally, because it is the cool way to be right??

NOT

but anyway,

she starts at her new high school, after seeing the old beat up pick-up her dad buys her, but amazingly she likes it,
and she sees this beautiful family, beautiful as in ethereal, serene, perfect,

and of course as fate would have it, the youngest boy sits next to her in biology, but oddly, he seems to be, the entire duration of their first class, restraining himself, from touching her in the slightest, and after class, she goes the principles office to finalize something for her studentship or whatever, and she overhears that he wants to switch out of the biology class they are in together, but she has done nothing to make him act this way....

and without giving too much away beyond that, it becomes a thrill ride to the very end, so please, please please......read the book before you see the movie, i have a bad feeling, that the book will still be the best of the 2.

Sincerely,
-AAG

DVD review: Penelope

Finally!!!

I just recently saw Penelope on Dvd, rented from Netflix o'course...

so here goes....
possible Spoilers too,

-Rating PG,
however, i must say, it was quite tame, considering what they could have squeezed in it with that rating, there was however a fair bit of Blasphemy you could say, at least 3 uses of G-d, and 1 Oh my G-d, but as for others, not so bad,
a couple passionate kisses, but nothing else, and then one at the end,
but all in all, not bad for a family movie, so i do recommend it, with 8.5 stars out of 10,
merely for the the shortness of the movie, longer in this case would have been better!! Much like Stardust... in that, longer would have not hurt it.

Sorry so short, but go watch it!!

So, first thing first, a cd review

Most recently on the market for young girls is Miley Cyrus's possibly long awaited new album.
"Breakout", i wouldn't know, since i haven't been eagerly awaiting it....but
In this album, she veers from the "Hannah/Miley" aspect, and declares her independence, with the exception of a remix of "See you again", a "Hannah/Miley" song, with many new songs, here in my review, i am going to look at the songs that most stuck out in my mind...

-"Breakout" her title of the cd, and the first song, first says "...
Every weeks the same Stuck in school so lame My parents say that i'm lazy Getting up at 8 is crazy...", hey guess what Miley, most of us public schoolers got up at 5:30-6am, so guess what?? Your life is not sooo hard. Then also she says many times, in the chorus, "... Were gonna Breakout Let the party start Were gonna stay out Gonna break some hearts..." gonna break some hearts?? Okay she is what 16?? Talking about breaking hearts for fun?? Uh no, not what you want your middle-schooler listening to. Plus, in about every song about partying, she says, something like "we're gonna lose control", but you know, thats not always so great,

-"7 things", Her most recent chart topper, a song which may be confusing the first time through, because she talks about 6 things she doesn't like, and then the 7th is that "you make me love you", which she doesn't feel is so bad, at the end of the song, the chorus changes to "...7 things i like about you...", and she repeats the second part of the original chorus, with "...you make me laugh, you make me cry...", then the part about how he makes her love him, but most scary is in the music video, all the young girls singing with her about their ex-boyfriends, all of them look under 12, girls that young should defiantly not be in a relationship like that, especially coming from Christian homes,

-"Wake up America", is mostly centered on Global Warming, and how we need to listen and take care of our earth, which i can't totally argue with, don't make extra trash or waste gas, but you don't need solar panels in your roof to save energy, but she also says "...
I know that you don't want to hear it, Especially coming from someone so young...", because you might get offended when she, who is only 16, starts to rant and rave about how she CAN afford solar panels in her roof, and even on her car/RV roof, and buys green credits or whatever, but ya know, not all of us pull in $5,000 a week Miley, soorry. Then at the end she says, "... But in the backseat, yea, they want to hear it (yeah you wanna hear it) So come on, turn it up Come on, turn it up So come on (turn it up)..."
so yeah, i am slightly agitated at this song...

-"Girls Just wanna have Fun", if you didn't know, this was originally sung by Cindi Lauper, and Miley's remake is ok, still is slightly edgy in that, the phrase, "girls just wanna have fun" sounds wrong for girls under 21-ish, to be singing, and still sounds slightly sped up in the beginning. But all in all, i see no reason for her to do this song, when her "G.N.O." was quite enough... I don't know about you, but i am tired of her slight repetitiveness, and poppy/teeny-bopper sound, so this cd is slightly refreshing, but still, be cautious of your kids.

i give it 4.5 stars out of 10
enjoying at times, but still slightly boring.

My first post

Hello and welcome,

my blog will be about many different things, I will be reviewing various movies, cds, and even books,

with a Christian view point, i may be inclined to "unrecomend" certain things,
maybe because i or another Christian may not want younger audiences reading, watching, listening etc... I also am slightly a political junky, so i may have articles i find interesting, and put my opinion with them, so beeeeeware..... :)

so please feel free to read and comment...

and i may get lazy, and not write for extended periods of time, seeing as college takes up a bundle of time...

thanks,

-AAG
