well first off let me say, i am not the fan here
my lil' sis is.
seriously though, these brothers are quite talented,
props, plus they are proud wearers of purity rings, which is something i respect very much.
so on to business....
overall, 7.5 stars out of 10, because its completely clean, only slightly suggestive, and even then, you have to really be looking for it, perfectly safe for 10+ y.o.
but i must say, most songs, if not all, are about relationships, which it seems they might not focus on, being so conservative, but after seeing them posing on Rolling Stone, c'mon, you know the picture i am talking about, veery steamy, totally in-appropriate for so-called pro-purity guys. but here is my opinion on each song.....
BB Good: not about anything bad, its about being true to your boyfriend/girlfriend, and i like it a lot, the 'yeah's and 'whoo's got old fast though.
Burnin' Up: aah yes, the problem, a biiit suggestive, but nothing too bad. its mostly about the guy sees the girl, wants to get to know the girl, yada yada, they said they wanted it to be kinda like a Prince song, Prince, eh? not a big fan of him...
Shelf: weeeell its talking about the guy not wanting to be put on the 'shelf', and not wanting to be forgotten, its ok, not my favorite though.
One Man Show: this one, is the most anti-relationship, like "i don't need a girl, leave me alone", stuff like that, i like this song the absolute least of all of them.
LoveBug: the talking in the song is amusing, but the annoying thing is the 'acting' sounds really fake, yeah i know, a dumb thing to say about a song, listen to the very end, the 'i dropped my pencil' is hilarious!
Tonight: at first its reminiscent of Hannah Montana, well to me it was, (yeah i am not sooo out of the loop i don't know who she is, sheesh...) anyway, it was pretty good, another kinda anti-relationship one, which is ok, it had a nice beat and all, but
Can't Have You: is the BEST SONG ON THE WHOLE DARN ALBUM!!!!! whew, yelling over.... i loved it, and i am almost 20 ok? i cried, the first time through, then was singing along the 3rd time!! dude, i totally love it. its about the guy who wants the girl sooooo bad, but he is not sure he will win her, and the back-story is they based it loosely on the remake of 'the Body Snatchers' or whatever its called, the remake has Nicole Kidman, and Daniel Craig, and man, the song made me want to see the movie! but anyway, they joked about how it was dedicated to her, at least i hope they were kidding, seeing as she is old enough to be their mother.
Video Girl: hmmm, i really hate this song, even though its really good, i grant it that, but i can't help wondering who they wrote it about.......but i don't like it.... i am sorry it just bugs me...but its about the 'video girl' who uses them, and really has nothing but looks, and they don't like her...the end
Pushin' Me Away: i like this song, and didn't like it till i actually listened to the whole thing, the song is mostly about how the guy is losing the girl, and he wants her to stop pushin' him away, because he really loves her i guess, i dunno the back-story to this song
Sorry: well this one may sound like the guys apologizing to the girl, but its back-story is that they had a lot of promises they couldn't keep, because they were gone on tour and all that jazz.
Got Me Going Crazy: just like it sounds, the girl has the guy going crazy, because he is sooo in love with her, i liked this one, because its kinda reminiscent of, ok i can't think of it right now, but some old song, its cute though.
well the title song at last
A Little Bit Longer: the story; Nick Jonas, the little one, has diabetes, and he says this song is mostly written about how his life is with it, i personally, compared to the rest of the songs, think it is a bit slooooooooow, and its all Nick singing, and i don't really like his voice, its kinda wierd, Joe's (Jonas) voice is much smoother, and, just plain hot, speaking as an engaged woman, i must say, if my fiancee sang, i would love him to sound like that :) though, he does have a great speaking voice, smoother than melted dark chocolate. mmmm-hmm
heh-heh, sorry about that...
anyway, all in all, not a bad third album.
congrats boys, you have impressed an almost 20 y.o.
